Bold patterned earthenware vase by Emma Odenkirchen

Handbuilt from earthenware clay in my studio in the Netherlands. The pattern begins with colour studies and sketches — crayons on paper, brushes on clay — until it clicks into place like a visual puzzle. Decorated with glazes and techniques I developed myself over the years.

No two pieces are exactly alike.

This piece is an expression of how I experience the world: in patterns, colours, details and associations. Made to bring a little joy and colour into your everyday life.

Details: The interior of the vase is glazed, outside surface is a mix of applied matte glazes and unglazed areas
