Pattern Soup collection

A vintage sleeping bag, striped children's trousers, a half-eaten banana, the colour inside a cracked walnut, a broken garland, a weird-looking machine, and spontaneous collages of life.

Each image is a small, deliberate archive entry, noticed, saved on purpose and absorbed into my head. I experience the world mostly through pattern, shape and colour, and how they relate to one another.

I enjoy observing and noticing the beauty in the colourful messiness of life. The filtering happens later, in the studio, with clay and highly pigmented glazes. That's when I close all the open 'visual tabs' — and feel which shapes, colours and patterns find their way out of my mental library and sketchbook into clay.

Materials - porcelain - the interior of the coupes are glazed, outside surface is a mix of applied high pigmented glazes and clear glossy glaze
